“I absolutely love being an optometrist and getting to know my patients personally! Practicing as a low vision specialist is incredibly rewarding. I enjoy helping children and adults be able to function better in their daily lives by improving their visual functioning with low vision aids. I also really delight in the challenges of fitting difficult contact patients, helping treat my patient’s eye disease, and watching a child see clearly through their first pair of glasses. I have been truly blessed with a great family, wonderful staff, and awesome patients! I would love to have you as a new patient in the practice.”

Dr. Meghan Schutte graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a certification in Business Foundations. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry at Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. She then went on to complete a residency in Primary Care Optometry at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, KY. During the residency program, she focused on low vision and vision therapy, along with traumatic brain injury rehabilitation and specialty contact lens fittings. Dr. Schutte then became the head of Optometry in a multidisciplinary hospital system, The Lexington Clinic. Dr. Schutte is now very happy to have returned to Texas, her home state, to be closer to family and friends and all the outdoor Austin activities she loves!

Dr. Aguilar is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, but fell in love with Austin during her 4th year optometry school rotations. After graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry, she completed an ocular disease residency with an emphasis in Low Vision at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. She is excited to be back in Austin joining Northwest Hills Eye Care and Complete Low Vision Care.
